I want to tell you about a skill I’ve been trying to master, one that can change the outcome of any situation in a matter of minutes. Once you are open to it, that is. The ability to produce positive thoughts, and experience the world through your lens, rather than everyone else’s. Simply put, living life for you and your goals rather than anyone else.
No matter how rough the day is or how far behind you are on a project. There is something to be positive about, think of something that makes you smile, a funny meme, favourite song, funny photos on your phone, or anything that comes to mind. Use these triggers as mood posters, even think about the strong foundation you’ve built for yourself. All of this is to produce a mindset shift.
The right mindset is one that finds the good in life. Starting with the choice to Internalize things that aid in personal growth, rather than everything you hear or see. By doing this, you are filtering out the unnecessary and negative information, which in turn allows you to stay positive in any situation.
Society has conditioned us to compare ourselves with everyone else in our business, personal and social life for numerous reasons. The biggest one is the need for validation to keep the ego intact. Furthermore, revelling in public victories, broadcasting all aspects of life. Something we have all done at one time or the other.
However, what happens when we let go of the need to compare and display public victories? Life becomes less of a show and more about living, focusing on your purpose. Even when you do not know exactly what that purpose is. Think of it as living, experiencing and loving life.
As you start to be positive daily, private victories will come in all shapes and forms, the need to broadcast will fade, you will be less comparative as well as genuinely happier. Furthermore, it will be easier to focus on your journey and be open to wherever it takes you. You will be ok with the bumps in the road because they won’t bring you down as much anymore, if at all. You will love yourself more and more, in addition to gaining a deeper understanding of yourself.
I can tell you that this will not come overnight, but it will be easier every day as you chose yourself. Prioritize the things you love and head in the direction you feel pulled. New doors will open, childhood dreams will resurface, and you will have the energy to complete anything you put your mind to.
